3D materials series

This is an ongoing series of materials and methods research, using the 3Doodler 3D pen.

One of the unique challenges of sculpting with a 3D pen, is creating solid shapes that can be self-supported, using only thin strands of material. This is where Riikc’s interest in geometry has factored in, as he has needed to draw on pattern repetition and geometrical design to form the foundation of his sculptures.

This attention to geometry and patterns is what gives Riikc’s 3D pen sculptures their unique structure and details. In recent pieces, it has also allowed Riikc to integrate additional materials into 3D sculptures.
