Riikc created the painting “Ts’onot” using a self-made bronze patina solution, applied in layers to canvas. The painting was purchased by a private collector in Brussels, Belgium, shortly after an exposition at Place St. Bernard.
This work is part of a series of bronze patina paintings and sculptures, which are now located in collections worldwide.
“Ts’onot” means underground body of water in Yucatec Maya. Riikc gave the painting this name due to its resemblance to the cenotes located throughout the Mayan riviera.
